Beef Picadillo 2.0

This is a latin style dish that I adapted and made into my own when Covid 19 happened and stores ran out of tomato sauce. In a way, I’m glad people stock piled tomato sauce because I would have never come across Mee’s Kut tomato sauce which is infused with additional spices that takes this dish to a whole new level.

Ingredients:

  • 1 TBSP Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • ½ Onion (white or brown), diced
  • 1 TBSP minced garlic
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper, diced
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper, diced
  • 1 lbs Lean Ground Sirloin or Beef
  • 1/2 cup Stuffed Pimento Olives
  • ½ tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 8-oz jar of Mee’s Kut Tomato Sauce. If you can’t find that you can us regular tomato sauce.

Note: you can find the sauce here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B06WW4JQBD/ref=dp_olp_afts?ie=UTF8&condition=all

Directions:

  1.  In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté onions, garlic, green and red peppers in extra virgin olive oil for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  2. Add ground beef to skillet and crumble and brown.
  3. Season mixture with salt, garlic powder, cumin, and black pepper.
  4. After meat has browned and is no longer pink, add tomato sauce and olives.
  5. Mix well and cover.
  6. Allow to simmer for 2-3 minutes before serving.
  7. Serve with rice.

I get asked a lot about that meat chopper. It’s by far one of the best kitchen utensils I own!
